LAHORE, Aug 8: Devastating bowling by medium-pacer Mohammad Talha helped Combined Club, Faisalabad beat Diamond Club, Islamabad on first innings lead in the final and emerge as new Inter-club cricket champions at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Talha took six wickets for 41 as Diamond Club were dismissed for 214 after resuming their first innings at 42-1 in the morning in reply to Combined Club's hefty total of 321.

Kamran Hussain, who will join the Pakistan Under-19 team in England before the start of the one-day matches, played well for Diamond Club with a fine knock of 67. He was the last man out after cracking five fours off 131 balls.

Later Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf distributed the prizes. He assured the organisers and players that PCB would further help the district bodies and regions to promote club cricket since this medium had provided some of the best cricketers to the nation.
