ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has demanded establishment of more industrial zones to control increasing unemployment in the country.
The acting ICCI president Jamal Abdul Nasir in a statement on Wednesday said setting up of more industries would also increase exports.
He showed his discontentment over what he said discriminatory investment policy under which foreigners were getting more benefits.
He said the government was offering free land and infrastructure to foreign investors but the same facilities were not provided to the locals. There is no doubt that the country would see phenomenal industrial growth if local investors were also treated in the same manner, he added.
The ICCI chief also criticised establishment of industrial zones in some selected cities while neglecting other areas.
He demanded that industrial zones should be set up in all cities so that the movement of people towards the bigger cities can be slowed down.
