BANNU, Aug 7: A police checkpoint here was blown up on Tuesday night. Two people were injured in the incident. Official sources told Dawn that some miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device in the Sokari police checkpoint, which exploded with a big bang, creating panic in the area.

The blast destroyed the checkpoint and three motorcycles parked nearby. The checkpoint is located in the jurisdiction of the Bannu City police station.

The injured, identified as Rehmatullah and Wahab Khan, were taken to a local hospital.
