Port Qasim

KARACHI, Aug 7: Four ships to load and offload containers, cement and edible oil were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday. Meanwhile, two more container ships also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy improved to 80pc as eight ships, Nikita, Maersk Missouri, Sinal, Shad Wan Island, Yantian Sea, Gemini, Al-Maqwa and Gennaro Ievoli, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, rape seeds, edible oil, diesel oil and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 106,000 tons comprising 86,000 tons of import and 20,000 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing activity was modest as only Al-Maqwa left the port while Maersk Missouri, Nikita, Yantian Sea and Gennaro Ievoli were expected to depart on Tuesday.
