MULTAN, Aug 4: The Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia, Pakistan, (WMAP) has moved the Supreme Court against the “bloodshed” during the Lal Masjid operation and sought registration of cases against the president, interior minister, Rawalpindi corps commander, Islamabad inspector general of police, chief commissioner and the deputy commissioner.

In a petition filed through Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gilani and Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi on Saturday, WMAP president Maulana Saleemullah Khan and secretary-general Maulana Mohammad Hanif Jalundhary said that as a result of the “illegal and unprecedented” action by authorities, hundreds of boys, girls and elders lost their lives.

“It is the fundamental right of every citizen to be dealt with in accordance with the law and under no circumstances he can be deprived of his life and liberty,” Maulana Hanif told a news conference here.

The WMAP prayed the court to stop the administration from removing debris of the damaged buildings in the Lal Masjid-Jamia Hafsa complex till the completion of the inquiry into the matter.

It sought registration of criminal cases against the authorities under section 295-B for “intentionally defiling” the Holy Quran.

It requested the court to order the administration to furnish particulars of missing students.
