KARACHI, Aug 4: Three-year-old chestnut filly Rebecca should make amends of earlier losses by claiming day’s honours in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

After posting three lengths victory over Janu Love Inshu on March 31, she had to be content with second place in four successive meetings. Her present form suggests that she may overcome opposition particularly from mare Smiling Face and eight-year-old bay Lucky Gem.

This is the second race on card having 10 acceptors barring last minute withdrawls.

Five-year-old bay mare Voo Doo Doll looks fancied to make it two on trot by landing the feature event.

She outpaced Khyber by a wide margin of 11 lengths in the last outing with Ghulam Shabbir II in the saddle. Of late, she had overcome a bad patch and with one exception has been on the board on four out of five occasions including two wins.

Her likely challengers in a field of eight runners are filly Kat Mandu and bay Arab Hi Arab. However, highly fancied colt Truf Shot if fit and tried can turn the tables.

Saddled by Mushtaq Ali Khan, the colt from the stables of Rajars obliged punters with five fluent wins on trot. He had a dismal run last weekend following his appearance after a layoff.

The concluding event will be a two horse race between fillies Friendly Fire and Fantastic Baby. Both are form animals and had won three races apiece. Fantastic Baby stormed to facile seven lengths win over Friendly Fire on July 24 to complete hat trick.

This time Friendly Fire seems to atone to the loss with an advantage in handicap when the two come across on Sunday. They are to be followed by Jack In The Box.

With a win under his belt, colt Royal King is set to pick up spoils in top division of class VII. Filly Rolex and colt Mr. Mention Not comes in the reckoning among others for the places.

Four-year-old colt Hal Chal is on course for a hat trick while mare Mixed Blessing and bay Chistian The Great are likely to reign supreme in the other races.

A card of seven races has been worked out for the day. The first race gets into action at 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, in a surprise move the schedule of races was revised on Saturday after the KRC guide was published and came in the market on Friday.
