LAHORE, Aug 4: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will spend Rs5 billion on uplift works in the provincial metropolis during the current financial year. The authority will spend Rs100 million on the provision of civic amenities in katchi abadis, Rs50 million on construction of a model school in Gulshan-i-Ravi and Rs40 million on another school in Sabzazar Scheme, Rs150 million on construction of roads on both sides of Sattokatla Drain between Ferozepur and Maulana Shaukat Ali roads and Rs290 million on Lahore Press Club Housing Scheme.
This was told during a meeting of the authority held here on Saturday with District Nazim Mian Amer in the chair to review the pace of progress on the ongoing uplift works and preparations for new projects.
The participants of the meeting were informed that construction of a community centre in New Muslim Town and LDA offices in Jauhar and Quaid-i-Azam towns would be completed during the current fiscal. Two bridges would be built on Allama Iqbal Town storm water channel in Sutlej and Neelam blocks, roads would be built in N-Block of Sabzazar Scheme, College Road and Southern Bypass via Revenue Society, Babu Sabu to Multan Road and Datanagar to Shadbagh Pumping Station.
A sum of Rs500 million had been allocated for the construction of an LDA Tower on Jail Road. The authority would acquire a new asphalt plant for the construction of roads at a cost of Rs100 million. Rs2.04 billion would be spent on development works in LDA Avenue Housing Colony and Rs220 million in remaining schemes.
MUSEUM: A museum is being constructed at Kallar Kahar at a cost of Rs14.5 million.
This was stated by Punjab Culture Minister Chaudhry Shaukat Ali Bhatti while presiding over a meeting on Saturday.
The meeting was informed that a sum of Rs2 million had already been spent on the project, while Rs11.5 million had been allocated for the current fiscal, says a handout.
