PESHAWAR, Aug 4: NWFP Minister for Information Asif Iqbal Daudzai has said anti-Islamic forces are engaged in maligning Islam and ulema throughout the world. The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government, he claimed, was making efforts to protect Islamic values and institutions.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the newly-paved streets in Khazana Payan here, he said the MMA government was taking steps for the welfare of the masses.

The minister, on behalf of the people of Daudzai, thanked the NWFP chief minister for granting special funds for gas supply projects in the area.

He said the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam had played an important role in development of the area.

About development works carried out in the Khazana Payan union council, the minister said millions of rupees had been spent on different schemes in the union council during the last five years. He announced Rs4 million for uplift programs of the area.

On this occasion, all members of the union council announced to join the JUI.

Councillor Anwar Khan, Peshawar JUI general secretary Qari Rafiq Shah and others also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
