PESHAWAR: Research made compulsory for bachelors of chemistry
PESHAWAR, Aug 3: Research has been made compulsory in the curriculum for the four-year bachelors’ programme of chemistry which would be implemented from next year.
According to a press release issued here on Friday, the decision to this effect was taken at a workshop held in the Baragali Campus of the Peshawar University. The workshop was organised by the Department of Chemistry of the University of Peshawar in connection with the preparation of the curriculum for the four-year bachelors' programme of chemistry department.
The workshop was attended by scientists, educationists and teachers from across the country.
During the workshop, necessary changes have been made in the curriculum in line with the requirements of the modern days.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of the Chemistry Department Prof (Dr) M. Rasul Jan said that a proper model has been prepared for the four years chemistry bachelor's programme, adding that research has been made its vital part.
He said that implantation on the newly-introduced reforms in the four-year bachelors’ programme is expected to be made in 2008, adding that the new system would further improve quality of education and bring it at par with international standards which would benefit the students.
The recommendations of the workshop would be forwarded to all departments of the Peshawar University and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for implementation, the release concluded.—APP
