MANSEHRA: Frustrated quake survivors damage NGO vehicle

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, Aug 3: Angry protesters attacked and damaged the vehicle of an international NGO and blocked the road for some time in Jabbori on Friday. Over 1,000 shopkeepers and earthquake survivors took out a protest demonstration against the NGOs, demanding quick action.

Urging the government to scrutinise the NGOs expenditure, they said that if they could not help the survivors, they don’t have the right to beg millions of dollars from international community in their name for maintaining their own luxurious lifestyles. The protesters said that none of the NGO working in their area had kept their promises to rebuild the infrastructure like schools and health centres destroyed in the earthquake.

They said that NGOs also failed to help the local businessmen despite getting huge funds in their name from all over the world.

They said that if the NGOs did not immediately help traders affected by the earthquake, they would not be allowed to work in the area.
