KARACHI: Kidnapping accused remanded

By A Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 3: The Administrative Judge of an anti-terrorism court Qaiser Iqbal on Friday remanded four accused in a kidnapping for ransom case in police custody till Aug 10.

The FIR (No.94/07) registered against them by the Soldier Bazaar police stated that Aurangzeb, Yaseen Ghauri, Arshad and Babu had kidnapped a boy, Amir Abdali,14, on July 31, 2007 and demanded Rs15 million for his release.

Mohammad Iqbal, father of the victim, was unable to pay such a huge amount as ransom. During telephonic contacts with him, the accused agreed to reduce the sum to Rs2.5 million and specified a place near Sohrab Goth for the payment and handing over of the boy.

Aurangzeb, who reached the place in a car (AHG-087) to receive the payment was arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell personnel. Later, the police recovered the boy and arrested his accomplices from a house in Machhar Colony, in the limit of the Docks police station.
