Mississippi River bridge collapses

MINNEAPOLIS (Minnesota, US): An aerial view of a major bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis which collapsed during the evening rush hour. At least four people were killed, 30 others were missing and 79 were injured. Divers searched the river on Thursday for more bodies entombed in cars trapped beneath the twisted steel and concrete slabs of the bridge. The authorities ordered an immediate inspection of all bridges in the state with similar designs. The Homeland Security Department said the collapse did not appear to be terrorism-related, but the cause was still unknown.—AP
