MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 2: Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) senior vice president Nawabzada Mansoor Ahmed Khan said on Thursday that the ARD and the All Pakistan Democratic Movement (APDM) will hold a workers’ convention on August 5 on Lytton Road to show the strength of political parties against one-man rule. Addressing a press conference at a local hotel, Pakistan Democratic Party’s chief Mansoor said the APDM was being organised at the provincial level.
He said the component parties of the alliance had been directed to accelerate the organisation process of the APDM in districts. He said 13 central leaders belonging to various political parties would also hold programmes and meetings with district leaderships to ensure effective organisation of the APDM. He said the ARD was also intact and struggling along the APDM and other political fronts to end the Musharraf-led regime. He said that political rallies would be arranged in Rawalpindi on August 14 and Quetta on August 19 on the APDM’s platform.
Referring to much-touted Benazir Bhutto-Musharraf deal, the Nawabzada said a deal should be made with the nation instead of a dictator, who, he said, was tarnishing the political image of Pakistan. He praised the efforts by journalists for rule of law in the country.
