FAISALABAD, Aug 2: Independence Day-related programmes will not be allowed at public places because of security problems, DIG (Operations) Mohammad Aslam Tareen told a press conference here on Thursday.

He said ‘foolproof’ security arrangements had been made in the district to foil terror attacks. He said policemen in plainclothes and uniforms had been deployed at various places to avert terror attacks. He said 54 surveillance cameras had been installed at various points and added that such cameras would be installed on Canal Road and Sattiana Road after one month.

Tareen said the killers of a constable, who was killed a couple of days ago, had been arrested. He said that a seven-year-old abducted child had been recovered with ransom money. He said that Nishatabad station house officer and investigation in-charge had been suspended for negligence from duty. He said that 1,200 proclaimed offenders and 900 court absconders were arrested during a campaign against them. — Staff Correspondent
