KARACHI: ‘No new project without EIA clearance’

KARACHI, Aug 2: Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternative Energy Dr Saghir Ahmed on Thursday directed the authorities concerned not to approve any new construction projects unless an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report of the project was cleared.

He noted that the impact of pollution was commonly ignored while executing most new projects.

To contain pollution, the present government, in collaboration with global environmental experts, is devising a plan to dispose of solid waste along modern lines, he added.—PPI
