LAHORE, Aug 1: National Junior Under-19 hockey championship will be played from Aug 18 to 28 in Faisalabad, the organisers announced on Wednesday. “The event will help in identifying young talent to broaden the base of the game which has shrunk in recent years due to lack of activity at the grass root level”, said former Olympian Rana Mujahid, the organising secretary of the meeting. He said country's leading teams from provinces and departments will be featuring in the 11-day activity.

Mujahid said invitations had been extended to four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Islamabad, Northern Areas, Army, Wapda, Railways, PIA, Police, National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited and Pak Steel Mills.—APP
