LAHORE, Aug 1: A man who was kidnapped, tortured by his abductors and later found unconscious and rescued by Rescue 1122 has been denied police help. Narrating his ordeal, Muhammad Sharif of Sua Asal, Kasur, said on May 28 he was carrying Rs35,000 in cash which he had to pay to his brother, Amanat Ali.

He said his captors took him to an undisclosed location where he found his former brother-in-law, Tahir Abbas Shah, with Saleem and Shaukat Qureshi.

He said Tahir Abbas had a grudge against him because he had divorced his sister, Najma Bibi, some three years ago.

He alleged Tahir and accomplices beat him severely as a result he lost his consciousness. On regaining consciousness, he found him tied with ropes at a desert place near the Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Some passers-by called Rescue 1122 and shifted him to Jinnah Hospital.

Later, he visited the Faisal Town police station with his fractured fingers and torture-marked body to get a case registered against his rivals, but the police refused.

Later, he moved court for the registration of the case, but the matter is still pending. When contacted, Faisal Town SHO Farooq Ahmad said he was unaware of the issue. — Reporter
