Tax raise stirs chaos

KHAIRPUR, Aug 1: Following shutter-down strike in the Rohri dates market in protest against an increase in taxes, 14 traders were arrested and 100 traders and workers booked by the police on Tuesday.

The traders and workers, led by Deedar Jatoi, Shahzado Otho and Shafiq Ahmed, took out procession from the market to the National Highway to protest against an increase in taxes and arrest and booking of the traders. The protesters blocked the highway for about four hours by burning tyres on it. —Correspondent
