HYDERABAD, July 30: Chairman Sindh Taraqi Passand Party, Dr Qadir Magsi, has strongly opposed any talks with the military dictators and said that in the opinion of his party, the rule of General Pervez Musharraf was unconstitutional and undemocratic.
He said his party has always opposed the interference of army and agencies in the political affairs of the country.
He was talking to various delegations which called on him at Taraqi Passand House here on Monday.
He said during eight years’ rule of General Musharraf, the entire country remained in the grip of anarchy, chaos, terrorism, price hike and poverty.
He said all the democratic institutions have been trampled by long boots and the people have become totally fed up with the autocratic rule.
He accused the present government of committing genocide of the people of Balochistan and Waziristan through army operation. He said, even the press and judiciary were not spared. He said massacre of innocent people was committed in Karachi by the supporters of Musharraf on May 12.
He said all the resources of Sindh, sovereignty and state organisations have been handed over to MQM which he termed anti-MQM. He said, work was not stopped on the construction of Greater Thal Canal despite strong protest by the Sindhi people and even the Kalabagh dam project has not been shelved despite opposition from the elected assemblies.
How could one sign a deal with such rulers when all the democratic forces, nationalists, political and religious parties and civil society were united on one platform against the army dictatorship, he asked.
He said following the historic decision of the Supreme Court, General Pervez Musharraf has been rendered totally weak and to enter into a deal with him at such a stage was tantamount to murder of the peoples’ aspirations.
He hoped that Ms Benazir Bhutto, who spearheaded democratic struggle against army dictatorship, would continue to lead and support the democratic movement.
