Six die in Kashmir bus blast

SRINAGAR, July 29: Six people, including three young girls, died and more than a dozen were wounded on Sunday in an explosion aboard a tourist bus here.

One of the wounded was in critical condition following the blast at the Shalimar gardens in Srinagar, police said.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that a low-density improvised explosive device was used in the blast,” a police inspector told AFP after visiting the scene.

Forensic experts collected samples from the site and their findings were expected on Monday, he added.

A young tourist and two of her Kashmiri friends were among the victims. The three others killed were tourists from the western Indian state of Gujarat. Police did not identify the victims or give their ages.—AFP
