Hakim Nasir passes away


KARACHI, July 28: Noted poet Hakim Mohammad Nasir passed away here on Saturday. He was 60. “He had suffered brain haemorrhage two days ago and was admitted to a hospital where he died tonight," his son Bilal Nasir told Dawn. Hakim Nasir is famous for his eternal ghazal ‘Jab sey tu nay mujhey deewana bana rakha hai’, sung by Abida Perveen. Born in Ajmer, India, Hakim Nasir along with his parents migrated to Karachi, where he inherited the famous Nizami Dawakhana on Burnes Road.—Hasan Mansoor
