Probables to play one Twenty20 game today: Schedule revised
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, July 28: The Pakistan probables, attending the third phase of the national training-cum-conditioning camp, will continue their preparations for September’s inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa with a solitary match on Sunday.
After two energy-sapping fixtures on Friday, it was decided to revise the schedule and there will now be just one match on Sunday, starting at 3.00pm at the National Stadium. On Monday, the probables will also play just one match during the afternoon.
Most of the cricketers, notably the fast bowlers, were exhausted in humid conditions that were prevalent on Friday. This was clearly visible during the second Twenty20 tie as most of the players appeared to be just going through the motions.
Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who did not report on the opening day of the camp, arrived late in the city on Friday night. He will feature in Sunday’s practice game.
Meanwhile, the remaining 25 probables participated in light physical training on Saturday at gymnasium of the hotel where the squad is stationed.
