SIALKOT, July 28: MNA Dr Firdous Aashiq Awan, who recently defected to the Pakistan People’s Party, has accused the National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Ameer Hussain of using arm-twisting tactics against her `to punish her and her family members for leaving the ruling party’.
In a press release issued here on Saturday, the MNA alleged that the district police were conducting illegal raids on her office and the houses of her relatives.
She also alleged the police were also harassing her and her family members and threatening her with dire consequences for joining the PPP.
She accused NA speaker of using his office to harass her.
Dr Awan announced to contest the coming general elections against Chaudhry Ameer Hussain from Bajwat constituency from the PPP platform.
She urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of `the state aggression’ against an MNA.
A spokesman of NA speaker has denied all the allegations levelled by the MNA.
On Wednesday, reportedly a huge police contingent had raided the office of Dr Fardous Ashiq Awan, arresting five people for allegedly resorting to aerial firing
