Resolution of land dispute sought

By Our Correspondent

HANGU, July 28: Residents of Thall observed a shutter-down strike and blocked the main highway for traffic on Saturday to protest against the lingering land dispute between the Paloseen Wazir tribe and locals.

Protesters warned to completely block the road between Thall and Parachinar for traffic on Sunday for indefinite period if the authorities failed to resolve the decades-long dispute between the locals and the Paloseen Wazir tribe.

The main road leading to the Kurram Agency was also blocked for traffic for several hours.

It may be mentioned that residents of Thall and tribesmen are at loggerhead over a piece of land since 1960.

Several clashes have taken place between the two sides, resulting in the killing of six people.

NWFP Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai has formed a commission to resolve the land dispute, but in vain.
