‘Interim govt after poll schedule’

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 28: Federal Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani said on Saturday that President Gen Pervez Musharraf would form an interim government and would decide on a timeframe for it as provided by the Constitution after the announcement of the election schedule. The interim government would hold the general elections.

Talking to reporters here at the Parliament House, the minister said the formation of a government of national consensus was a prerogative of the parliament. If any party wanted to take part in the process it should present its suggestions at the parliament, he added.

Mr Durrani expressed his ignorance about a meeting between President Musharraf and PPP’s chief Benazir Bhutto in Abu Dhabi. He, however, promised to provide complete information about the reported meeting to the media after his meeting with the president.

The minister said the PML and its allied parties would contest the next election from a single platform.
