LAHORE, July 27: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IG) Ahmad Nasim has taken note of the escape of an accused from the Shahdara police’s custody and told the deputy superintendent of police to arrest him within a week.

According to a police spokesman, departmental action against four policemen of Shahdara has already been initiated.

ARRESTED: The patrol police claimed on Friday to have arrested 41 men with illegal weapons and stolen vehicles during the last week.

CAR SNATCHERS: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) claimed on Friday to have arrested two car snatchers after an exchange of fire.

NH&MP officials said they received a wireless message from the district police that two men had snatched a car from Kashif near Jauhar Town and fled toward the highway.

They said motorway patrol officials chased them and arrested them after an exchange of fire. They were later identified as Usman and Kiran Sahira.— Staff Reporter
