LAHORE, July 27: The prevailing economic stability is the result of revolutionary initiatives taken by the Punjab government in the business and finance sectors. This was stated by provincial Zakat and Ushr minister Khadim Husain Wattoo while talking to a delegation of entrepreneurs at his office on Friday, says a handout.

He said that apart from many vital reforms in the education sector, technical and information technology education as well as vocational training were being imparted to the youth at centres running by the Zakat department.

According to the minister, the public-private partnership was needed to generate more and more jobs.

He urged the business community to play its due role in this connection. The businessmen could give jobs to trained youths in their offices, he added.

Mr Wattoo said that extremism, the result of poverty and economic disparity, grew over the past many decades without being acknowledged or tackled by previous regimes.

The situation could be remedied by creating a healthy economic atmosphere, and greater growth opportunities for all.

He said the youth with modern education and technical know-how were better equipped to find jobs in today’s cut-throat competition and play their part in national progress.—APP
