NAROWAL, July 26: “Police have twisted the facts of the murder of my husband to give undue favour to the accused,” says the widow of a retired army man. Muhammad Irfan of village Faizpur, falling in the jurisdiction of Rayya Khas police station, was reportedly murdered on June 17 in neighbouring Meadian village.
Talking to newsmen, his widow Zikriya Bibi identified Faryad and Shahbaz, sons of Abdul Haq, and their friend Zulfiqar as the culprits.
Giving the motive, she said the brothers owed Rs 200,000 to Irfan, the father of six girls. “They killed my husband tactfully but the police showed in the FIR the death as accidental,” she alleged.
She said Irfan had retired from the army a year ago. Reluctant to return the loan, Bibi said Faryad and Shahbaz had taken Irfan to Meadian village on June 17 to attend a marriage function. The same day she heard the news of his death by a stray bullet.
She reached the spot where police got her thumb impression on a plain paper, saying that it was needed as a permission for conducting autopsy.
Bibi alleged that when she and her relatives went through the FIR, it was shocking for them to learn that it was a case of an accidental fire, shot by Wajid Ali, the minor brother of accused Faryad and Shahbaz.
Murad Ali, the father of the deceased, alleged that police had got a huge bribe from the accused.
Himself a retired serviceman, Murad appealed to the president to take notice of this injustice. “If we do not get justice, we will leave Pakistan for good,” he said.
Rejecting allegations, Rayya Khas SHO Ilamdin said the FIR had been registered on the application of the widow. DSP Taufiq Khan said he had visited the place soon after the incident and the FIR was registered according to the facts. He said police had arrested accused Wajid Ali.
