THATTA, July 26: The board member of Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF) and an active member of the Los Angles Business Society, Saleem Adaya has said that the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) is performing its due role in human development which will yield expected result within the stipulated period in Pakistan.

He underlined the vitality of women development, particularly in under- developed countries at a community meeting held at Umar Chang village near Jhimpir after visiting the NCHD affiliated health and education facilities.

He stressed the need of sustained efforts to extend maximum facilities and benefits in the field of education and health to the population.

Senior General Manager of the NCHD Sindh, Sohail Rajput while briefing the meeting revealed that to establish fundamental links and concentrative communication, the NCHD had installed 18,919 community volunteers throughout the province to motivate people for community development and create consensus for joint efforts for the promotion of society. He said the NCHD provided 3,634 teachers to government-run schools, 1,925 teachers to over-crowded primary schools and 1,174 teachers to feeder schools, besides establishing 13,519 literacy centres where from 3,02,799 learners were graduated throughout Sindh.

Mr Rajput claimed that the NCHD within a short period arranged 150 temporary eye camps in remote villages, treated 3,380 eye patients and provided spectacles to 2,156 patients as well as required medicines.

Commenting on dehydration, malnutrition and ill-treatment and the mortality rate of children as 5,11,921 per year, Rajput said, the NCHD trained 9,57,750 mothers in phase-I in district Thatta, Badin, Naushahro Feroze, Ghotki about the ORS.
