MADRID, July 25: Two minor explosions occurred Wednesday along the route to be taken by riders in the Tour de France as the cycle race made a brief detour into Spain, the Europa Press news agency reported.

An anonymous caller claiming to speak in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA had warned police earlier Wednesday that the Spanish leg of the race might be targeted with explosive devices, the Basque news agency Vasco Press reported.

According to Vasco Press only one explosion occurred, about 50 metres from the road. No injuries were reported.—AFP
