LAHORE, July 25: Cantt division CIA police have arrested eight gamblers from Johar Town and seized stake money, cell phones and gold ornaments from them, says a handout.

On the direction of SP CIA Chaudhry Masood Aziz, a special team, headed by the Cantt DSP, raided a house in G-Block of Johar Town and arrested eight gamblers. The police recovered stake money worth Rs195,000, nine cell phones and jewellery.

The arrested gamblers were identified as Muhammad Akram, Inam, Abdul Majeed, Ashfaq Ahmed, Amjad Javeed, Suleman Hayat, Faisal Saeed and Farasat Ahmed. A case has been registered.

DIG (Investigation) Tassaduq Husain has announced cash prizes and certificates for the raiding team.

Meanwhile, Iqbal Town CIA police have arrested a proclaimed offender and a drug peddler and seized 81kg hashish from him.

On the direction of Capital City Police Officer Malik Muhammad Iqbal, DIG Tassaduq Hussain constituted a team which gathered information about hardened criminal Mushataq alias Mushtaqi and arrested him from Bhaki Road, Sheikhupura on a tip-off. The PO had shot dead a motorist on offering resistance in 2006.

The police nabbed drug pusher Bashir Khan of the NWFP and recovered hashish from his possession. A case has been registered.
