12 criminals handed over to authorities

By Anwarullah Khan

KHAR, July 25: A Jirga of the Mamond tribe handed over 12 alleged criminals to political authorities in the Bajaur Agency on Wednesday, officials said. They said that the alleged criminals had been surrendered to the government under an agreement signed between the political administration and Mamond tribe.

Sources said that 40 members of the Jirga had detected a group of criminals who the elders believed were involved in subversive activities in the troubled region.

They said that on the recommendation of the Jirga the administration arrested the suspects.

The Mamond tribe had signed the agreement with the administration according to which the tribesmen would cooperate with the authorities to eradicate criminals from the area.
