PESHAWAR, July 25: An earthquake centred in the remote mountains of Afghanistan shook parts of northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which the meteorological office said had a 4.5 magnitude.

Shocks were felt at 11:21am in Peshawar, the Chitral valley and other parts of the NWFP, said Mohammed Ishtiaq, an official at the meteorological office.

The epicentre of the quake was some 300km north of Peshawar in the Hindu Kush range in Afghanistan, he said.—AP
