ISLAMABAD, July 24: Religious parties and leading ulema have planned to move the court against government plans to change the status of Jamia Hafsa. A panel of lawyers has been formed which will file the case in the court on Wednesday.
A meeting of ulema from Wafaqul Madaris and representatives of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal here on Tuesday discussed all the issues including approach to the court for a stay against the use of the seminary for other purposes.
MMA MNA from Islamabad Mian Mohammad Aslam, Maulana Nazir Farooqi, Maulana Zahoor Ahmad Alvi, Syed Bilal, Maulana Mohammad Sharif Hazarvi, Maulana Abdul Karim, Maulana Assadullah and others attended the meeting.
The participants of the meeting took serious notice of, what they said, the desecration of the holy Quran and human bodies found in the Lal Masjid-Jamia Hafsa complex after the operation. “Such things did not even happen in Guantanamo Bay,” said Mian Aslam, adding the sentiments of Muslims had been hurt very badly.
To give vent to their feelings, the ulema and religious parties will also organise an “Azmat-i-Quran rally” on Sunday against the desecration of the Quran. Similarly, protests will also be arranged after Friday prayers. Separate protest rallies will be taken out from all mosques in different sectors of the capital.
Mian Aslam told the meeting that the federal capital still gave a look of a battleground. There are kalashnikov-toting security personnel spreading fear amongst the residents, he said.
