Turkey backs fight against terrorism


ISLAMABAD, July 24: Turkish President Necdet Sezer on Tuesday telephoned President Gen Pervez Musharraf to express support and solidarity with Pakistan in its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, and for the country's role in promoting peace and security.

The Turkish President expressed condolences and sympathy over the loss of innocent lives in recent suicide bombings in Pakistan, a foreign office statement said here. The two leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.

They expressed satisfaction at the close cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey, and affirmed the resolve to continue their efforts to further consolidate bilateral relations in all areas.—APP
