5 breaches occur in Thul canals

JACOBABAD, July 24: At least five breaches occurred in different waterways on Monday night which inundated 30 villages and damaged paddy crops standing on thousands of acres of lands in Thul area.

Reports said that these breaches occurred in Shahi Wah at Mahoopur, Manjhwati Canal at Bhooro Thalani Village, Thurti Canal, Bahadurpur minor and Uch Canal.

Villagers said that 12 breaches occurred in different canals and paddy crops standing on 4,000 acres of land were destroyed, while houses, grain and other valuables were also damaged. The villagers were shifting their families to safer places.

In Shahi wah, a breach occurred at RD-44 Lundho Ghar submerging Haji Bungalow Bugti, Dad Mohammad Banglani, Saifal Golo, Masti Banglani, Mohammad Amin Khoso, Zahoor Khan Khoso, Bhooral Talani, Hazar Khan Khoso, Rehmatullah Khoso, Yar Mohammad Khoso, Din Mohammad Khoso, Atta Mohammad Lashari, Daud Khoso, Shahnawaz Khoso, Darya Khan Khoso, Arbab Ali Khoso, Mahoopur, Mohammad Hassan Kumbhar, Allah Bachayo Tanwri, Masti Banglani, Luni Drib and other villages.

The growers alleged that that breach occurred due to negligence of irrigation officials. More villages were in danger as irrigation officials have failed to plug the breaches.

The villagers themselves were plugging the breaches till the filing of this report.
