HYDERABAD, July 24: The civil judge and judicial magistrate-XII on Tuesday remanded an inspector and a constable of excise police in police custody for three days in a hoax bomb call made to the office of the sessions judge on July 2 from a cell phone.

Inspector Jamil Rajput and constable Ehteshamul Haq alias Nadeem were produced before the court by the Cantonment police.

The case was lodged on the complaint of a clerk of the sessions judge's office. The call led to searches in the office of Civil Courts building but it was proved to be a hoax bomb call made from a cell phone belonging to one Waqar.

Waqar and some other persons were illegally detained by the excise police officials who also deprived Waqar of his cell phone.

Impersonator arrested

The civil judge and judicial magistrate-III on Tuesday remanded an impersonator in police custody for four days.

Riaz Sheikh, an employee in the district government's health department, posing as a major, arrived at a post office in the Pinyari police jurisdiction and obtained record and money of Baitul Maal on the ground that misappropriation was taking place.

In the meantime, the post office received a call that a similar incident had taken place in Hirabad post office. Police were called and the impersonator was arrested.
