LAHORE, July 23: Despite Faisal Iqbal’s fine knock of 74 Shoaib Malik-XI lost the fourth and final Twenty20 practice match against Salman Butt-XI by nine runs on the last day of the second leg of the national training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.
Set 164 to win, Shoaib Malik-XI’s Faisal hit four sixes and five boundaries during his 53-ball innings, getting meagre support of Imran Farhat (22) and thus the side were restricted to 154-5 in reply to Salman Butt-XI’s 163-7.
Mohammad Hafeez served his team with the leather well, taking three wickets for 25. Shoaib Akhtar continued his fine bowling capturing 2-16 in three overs.
Earlier, batting first, skipper Salman Butt (40 off 37 balls), Kamran Akmal (52 off 26) and Misbah-ul-Haq (31) batted well to help their team post 163-7, the highest team total of the four-match series.
Kamran hit three sixes and five fours as Salman recorded four boundaries while Misbah clicked for the first time hitting two sixes and as many fours.
With this match the second phase of the camp ended and now the players will assemble in Karachi for the third and final stage from July 27.
