Women’s soccer coach arrives

LAHORE, July 23: German women soccer coach Monika Staab arrived on Monday to coach Pakistani women for one-month in all four provinces and regions. Frankfurt based Monika, had ended her eleven-year spell of coaching after UEFA Women's Championship final against Sweden last year.

Monika will be assisted by Assistant FIFA Development Officer, Mohsen Gilani and FIFA women coaching instructor, Tariq Lutfi during her visit to various cities from July 25 to August 15.

She will also be among four-member selection committee, which will select 35 players during the 3rd national championship for the preparation of first-ever national team. The national championship is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from Aug 16 to 24.

It is the third visit of a foreign women soccer coach during the national championship. Philippine's Cristina Ramos and Dr Aneesa Al Hitmi, President of Qatar Women's Sports Committee and member of FIFA Women's Committee had earlier visited.
