KARACHI, July 23: Inspector-General Zia-ul-Hasan Khan on Monday ordered the establishment of a ‘Rapid response force’ consisting of 300 commandoes. The force will be equipped with modern weapons and equipment and operate directly under the CCPO of Karachi and will swing into action when required.
The Rapid Response Force will be provided with manpower, vehicles and equipment from the existing police resources.
Presiding over a meeting at the Central Police Office, the IG said initially the force would function at the Karachi level, and during this period more jawans and officers would be given commando training and later it would be made functional in other major cities of the province.
According to his directives, the members of the force would be provided facilities of risk allowance and special insurance to attract other police jawans to the RRF. The officials and jawans would be taken on the force for two to three years after which they would be replaced.—APP
