KARACHI, July 22: Minister of State for Information Technology Ishaq Khan Khakwani has welcomed reinstatement of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, saying: “it’s a good omen for the country and democracy.”

In a statement, he said the verdict had not only ended the judicial crisis, but also helped avert an unnecessary confrontation.

He recalled that there had been occasions in past when court rulings against an incumbent government had not been accepted in letter and spirit, and this had often led to a confrontation.

The minister was of the view that it would be a good sign if the president and prime minister congratulated and assured the CJ of full support in the discharge of his professional duties.—PPI
