Sajid, Farooq excel in U-17 cricket


KARACHI, July 21: Sajid Ali’s brilliant century coupled with Syed Farooq’s superb bowling enabled Zone-I Whites to register a thumping 122-run win against District Lasbela in a KCCA Inter-zonal Under-17 tournament match at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Friday.

Sajid hammered a beautiful 105 and Anwar Amin made 62 as Zone-I Whites totalled 257-6 in the allotted 50 overs. Atiq-ur-Rehman and Danesh Kumar captured two wickets apiece.

District Lasbela, in response, could post 135 before being dismissed in 48 overs. Left-arm spinner Syed Farooq demolished the opponents’ batting with excellent figures of 6-29.

In the other match of the day, Zone-I Blues defeated Zone-VII Blues by five wickets at the TMC ground due to good batting by Qazi Hasnain (50) for the winners.
