Friendly Fire all set to outsmart rivals today

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, July 21: With a hat trick under her belt, three-year-old bay filly, Friendly Fire, looks certain to stretch winning streak by capturing The Top Most Cup 2007 when the weekly Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She will be making her appearance after a two-month layoff and seems smart to overcome the opposition in the six furlongs race.

Three horses — filly Fantastic Baby, bay horse Jack In The Box and mare Voo Doo Doll — comes in reckoning of posing serious threat to her in a field of 11 contestants.

Three-year-old bay colt Royal King has the potential to land The Jockey’s Cup. He posted a facile five lengths victory over The Ghazan Prince under rider Nasir to lift The KRC Cup on July 11.

His likely challengers are colt Sing Sing, chestnut The Ghazan Prince and bay Mr. Paidagir.

A card of six races including two cups has been drawn for the days programme. The first race begins at 2.00pm.

Phapha Kutni, a three-year-old bay filly, should make amends by landing the feature event which is the concluding race of the days’ fixtures.

She is likely to be chased by colt Truf Shot and mare Savabeel for the places. The former hit the headlines claiming five races on trot with the last coming in the month of April.

Four-year-old chestnut filly Kat Mandu is on course to complete hat trick should she land the fourth race which has a shortest field of five aspirants.

Bay horse Baap Re Baap and filly Gwenivare are the two form horses who looks poised to finish on board.
