LAHORE, July 21: The Pakistan Railways has introduced electronic ticket reservation system on all trains from Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi and vice versa. Under the new system, tickets can be booked on all classes of every train originating from Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi, an official of the Pakistan Railways said here on Saturday.

Anyone can buy the e-ticket online by visiting the Pakistan Railways website www.pakrail.com, subject to availability of seats in particular trains at particular station between any particular dates available for reservation.

The passenger will then feed his or her personal information and credit card details. After verification of the credit card, the passenger slip will be generated and the passenger can get a print of this electronic reservation slip (ERS) on his/her local printer.

The passenger will approach e-ticketing counters at the Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi stations one-hour before the departure of the train, along with the photocopy of his/her CNIC or passport. The railway employee at the counter will examine and scrutinize this e-ticket.

At present, payments for e-tickets can be made by Citibank payment gateway using Master or Visa credit cards, the official said.

The passenger can get full refund by cancelling the ticket through website, 72 hours before the train departure.

The cancelled amount will automatically be adjusted in the credit card through which the reservation has taken place. — Staff Reporter
