HARIPUR, July 20: The Peshawar Electricity Supply Corporation, Hazara circle, has excelled among other circles of the province in terms of achieving targets set for recovery of dues and controlling line-losses for 2006-07, sources in Pesco told Dawn here on Thursday.

Pesco’s Hazara circle has six operation divisions – City division, Haripur; Rural division, Haripur; City division, Abbottabad; Jinahabad division, Abbottabad; City division, Mansehra, and Rural division, Mansehra. Each division controls three to four sub-divisions.

The sources privy to the record of recovery of dues and line-losses said the Hazara circle had issued bills amounting to Rs5,754.23 million in 2006-07 against Rs5,202.60 million of previous fiscal year. The circle had collected Rs5,712.26 million against last year’s Rs4817.01 million. The collection percentage was 99.27 against previous year’s 92.60. The collection from government consumers remained 100.83 per cent and from private consumers 98.72 per cent, the sources said.

Pesco issued bills to private and government consumers amounting to Rs503.41 million during June 2007 and collected Rs666.64 million against June 2006 bills of Rs450.95 million with recovery of Rs661.10 millions. The sources said the 12.94 per cent increase in recovery was due to the recovery of some outstanding dues against private and government departments.

Line-losses incurred by Pesco during 2006-07 remained within the set limits.

The sources said the Hazara circle had billed 1352.10 million units to consumers of different categories across the Hazara division against last year’s figures of 1229.20 million. The ratio of line-losses remained 13.3 per cent against 13.8 per cent of fiscal year 2005-06.
