KARACHI, July 20: Two ships carrying containers and edible oil were accommodated berths at the QICT and MPT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday. Meanwhile, two more ships with container and furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy plummeted to 40pc as only four ships, Al-Mirqab, Asco, New Toyokaze and Shamroc Venus, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, edible oil and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 46,400 tons comprising 31,554 tons of import and 14,846 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only one vessel, Al-Mirqab, left the port while Shamroc Venus was due to depart.
