Abdullah, Akram excel for Zone-VI Whites


KARACHI, July 19: Abdullah Asad slammed a superb hundred while medium pacer Akram Shoaib claimed six wickets as Zone-VI Whites crushed Zone-V Greens by 199 runs in the KCCA Inter-zonal Under-17 tournament at the KCCA Stadium on Wednesday.

Abdullah posted exactly 100 runs while Talha Shafi and Talha Shabbir recorded half-centuries in helping Zone-VI Whites amass 278-2 in 50 overs.

Zone-V Greens, in reply, crumbled to 79 all out in the 23rd over. Akram Shoaib finished with 6-30 and Shahzaib Ali captured 4-16.

Meanwhile, Zone-III Whites defeated Zone-VII Blues by four wickets at Asifabad Ground. Leg-spinner Akhtar Kiani grabbed 4-41 for the winners.

In another match left-arm spinner Usmanullah got three wickets for 21 and S.M. Adeel made a match-winning 47 in Zone-IV Blues’ seven-wicket win over Zone-II Blues at the TMC Ground.

ZONE-VI WHITES 278-2 in 50 overs (Abdullah Asad 100, Talha Shafi 53, Talha Shabbir 51); ZONE-V GREENS 79 in 22.2 overs (Shakeel Salim 25, Khanzada 15; Akram Shoaib 6-30, Shahzaib Ali 4-16).

ZONE-VII BLUES 160 in 47.2 overs (Hasan Khaliq 45, M Hamid 22; Akhtar Kiani 4-41); ZONE-III WHITES 161-6 in 37.4 overs (Daniyal Alvi 41, Tauseef Khan 37, Taha Iftikhar 20; M Hamid 3-35).

ZONE-II BLUES 160 in 45.5 overs (Ahsan Ali 52, Hamza Naqvi 36; Usmanullah 3-21, Hasan Khalid 2-31); ZONE-IV BLUES 162-3 in 42.2 overs (S.M. Adeel 47, Sheraz Ali 40 not out, Kamran Khan 36; Abbas Irshad 2-49). —APP
