LAHORE, July 19: A litigant on way home after attending court hearing was shot dead while a young rickshaw driver was injured by unidentified people in Shahdra on Thursday, police and Rescue 1122 said.

Police said Arshad (25), a resident of Chitrali Narang village, Sheikhupura, hired a rickshaw from the Ferozwala courts after attending a case.

When they reached Wandala Road, Kashmir Park, some unidentified people stopped them and opened fire, leaving Arshad dead and driver Usman, 14, injured.

The boy was rushed to the Mayo Hospital by Rescue 1122 while the body of Arshad was shifted to the city morgue.

Ruling out the robbery factor, the duty officer suspected that Arshad’s rivals could be behind his killing.

No case was registered till the filing of the report. —Staff Reporter
