MIRAMSHAH, July 19: Three checkpoints vacated by the Khasadar force were destroyed allegedly by militants in different areas of the restive North Waziristan tribal region on Wednesday and Thursday.

Official sources said the militants used improvised explosive devices to destroy the posts.

Two posts were destroyed near Miramshah Bazaar on Thursday and one post was destroyed in Norak on the main Miramshah-Mirali road on Wednesday.

Three big explosions were heard on Thursday night. However, no casualty was reported.

The posts had been vacated by the Khasadar force a few days ago after distribution of a pamphlet by militants asking the Khasadar and levies personnel to leave their jobs otherwise they would be treated like Army or Frontier Corps officials.

Meanwhile, another check post jointly manned by the Pakistan Army and FC came under attack from militants. It is learnt that some rockets were fired at the post.

Army and FC personnel exchanged fire with the militants.
