US pledges more help for health sector

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 19: The United States will enhance its assistance for mother and child health care in Pakistan to improve medical services for pregnant women and newborns.

This was stated by US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson in a meeting with Federal Minister for Health Mohammad Nasir Khan on Thursday.

Since USAID’s health programme began in 2003, activities have focused on improving maternal and newborn health services, improving the accessibility and availability of family planning products, preventing major infectious diseases and increasing access to clean drinking water.
